Tom Willner in Concert, 7pm, September 10th – Tom Willner

Singer-Songwriter, Tom Willner

was diagnosed with cancer over a decade ago and after a year-long battle he emerged with a new lease on life.  This experience inspired his first solo CD called “Turning Thirty,” which has sales and fans worldwide. Willner’s next album “Greener” with band “Screen Door” was hailed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as having “an inescapable resemblance to some of James Taylor’s best work, displaying the same sprightly mix of sweetness, smarts and irresistible melodic hooks.”  Legendary award-winning mastering engineer Earle Holder, known for his work with Public Enemy and numerous projects with other Platinum artists, says of “Rescue Me,” Willner’s next release, “Tom’s diverse stylistic talents truly shine on this album. The industry needs more music like his.” Most recently, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution had this to say about his musical, “Seeing things differently is the guiding principle behind ‘Turning Thirty,’ which attempts to do for cancer what the Tony Award-winning musicals ‘Next to Normal’ and ‘Rent’ did for bipolar disorder and people living with HIV, respectively. Set it to music… Similarly, Willner’s score packs emotional wallops along with punch lines.”

When planning a special event, weekend getaway or vacation.  Look no further than The Lodge at Copperhead.  We have you covered with nearly two hundred special events each year. It’s a mountain destination worth exploring  in the North Georgia Mountains.

Music Event Highlights for October 2011 – The Lodge at Copperhead, Blairsville, GA

Nashville Unleashed, 7:30 p.m. – Dinner reservations open at 5:30 p.m.  Reservations Requested.

Join Jack & Diane, along with a few of their fellow Nashville Recording Artists:  Lisa Shaffer, Shay Watson, Bill Whyte in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains for a special concert event at The Lodge at Copperhead.  The concert will take place “in the round” in the Grand Hall, by candlelight, over dinner and wine.

Nashville Unleashed with Jack & Diane is an unprecedented concert experience, catering to couples and music connoisseurs in an intimate, “in the round” format. Similar to VH-1?s Storytellers, the audience is invited behind the scenes, as Nashville’s elite performing songwriters share the inspiration behind their music and the stories behind their songs. The professional writers WOW the audience with their superior musicianship and open themselves up personally.

JACK & DIANE – Most refer to their music as a “bluesy, more soulful style of country.”  Diane’s voice is smooth as “hot butter.”  Jack, who formerly toured with George Thorogood and Brian Setzer is revered as a guitar player/multi-instrumentalist.  He is known for his unconventional approach, especially to lap steel and mandolin.  The combination of Jack & Diane’s musical styles immediately resonates with an audience. Both long-time performing, recording, and songwriting veterans, Jack & Diane simply have the ability to capture the hearts of their listeners and endear them to their music.

LISA SHAFFER – Lisa grew up in Crittenden, Kentucky just below the Mason-Dixon Line.  Lisa has recorded for Disney’s Lyric Street Records and written several hit songs: “Gotta Start Somewhere” by Rhonda Vincent, “Hip Hop In A Honky Tonk” by Colt Ford (video currently airing on CMT and GAC), and “I Know I Love You” by Jeff and Sheri Easter whose album is nominated for a Grammy.  Lisa has co-written songs with Charlie Daniels, Bill Anderson and Paul Overstreet.

BILL WHYTE – Born in Montgomery City, Missouri, Bill’s first experience in Nashville came in the mid 70?s. While he was in Music City he was part of the United Talent Roster that was owned by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.  It was Billy Dean who first encouraged Bill to stop resisting his funny side and write more comedy songs and that led Bill into the studio to record his “Off The Wall CD” that was recorded “Live” at the world famous Bluebird Cafe. And his second comedy song CD “Leave Em’ Laughing” contains 12 more funny songs. Bill currently tours with various Artists. In between road dates, he offers is Award-Winning Radio Personality to WSM radio station, the home of the Grand Ole Opry. Bill’s songs have been recorded by Linda Davis, Brady Seals, Ray Stevens and Cledus T. Judd, among many others.

SHAY WATSON – Shay Watson has written songs for bands and solo artists such as Grammy Winning DC Talk’s (and Newsboys)’s Michael Tait, Word Recording Artists-Sidewalk Prophets, Fox Sports, Grammy Nominees, Sonicflood, his own duo ‘Watson & Nash’ and James Clay and others. With chart success in Europe under his belt and a number of songs cut and singled to radio by various artists in the United States, Shay has carved out a place for himself in the global music community as a songwriter, artist and producer. Shay is actively involved in child advocacy and is an artist/spokesman for Mission of Mercy, a Christian relief organization that helps find sponsors for poverty stricken children in underprivileged areas of the world.
