North Georgia Idol 2013

Blairsville, GA, December 10, 2012 – The 3rd Annual North Georgia Idol Contest to be held at The Lodge at Copperhead beginning the third Saturday in March 2013.

The North Georgia Idol Contest is being hosted by The Lodge at Copperhead, Blairsville, GA. The contest is open to all singers, emerging through seasoned performers, with the exception of those who earn their living exclusively from performing. Auditions will be held on March 16th and 23rd where hopeful contestants will perform before a live audience, including industry professional judges, for a spot in the finale on March 30th.

Information and registration for the North Georgia Idol contest is available at The entry fee for competing is $25 per singer and payable when registering at the website. Registration is limited, so get signed up today. Contestants will compete for the top prize: a studio recording session and demo package
valued at over $500, provided by Sean Clyde of C&C Media, two time Grammy
nominee, and CSRA Hip Hop Award Winner. Sean has produced some of the top
talents in the world, including, Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Trisha
Yearwood, and Garth Brooks, and has worked with some of the best known music
labels including Atlantic Records, Sony, RCA, and Virgin Records. The 2nd and
3rd place winners will win cash and other great prizes.

Contestants should have one song prepared for their audition. Required format is: playable music with no lead vocals. Acceptable music formats: Karaoke Backing Track, Burned CD, or iPod with downloaded music. The top singers selected by judges scoring will advance to the finale on March 30. Finale contestants should have two songs ready to perform following the same contest formats.

The auditions will allow each contestant four (4) minutes to perform their song selection. The judges will comment immediately following each singer’s performance and score them. As part of the registration process, entrants will receive an email that verifies song titles are approved for performance. Song titles are selected on first come first serve basis. There will no duplications of songs during each audition week.

Contestants are encouraged to invite their family and friends to support them during the competition for North Georgia Idol. The public is welcome to attend the show with no cover charge when dining in The Lodge at Copperhead restaurant.

2012 contestants are encouraged to compete again. 2012 Winner, Palmer Mirelle will join us for the finale to perform and as a guest judge. Palmer is fourteen years old and has been performing since the age of three.  During 2012 Palmer was named North Georgia Idol, and was crowned Platinum First Place Winner in the Rising Star Competition in Tennessee.

Appalachian Chili Cook-off in Review

BLAIRSVILLE, Ga. (November 7, 2011) A misty morning welcomed chili cookers for the 2nd Annual Appalachian Chili Cook-off at The Lodge at Copperhead, Blairsville on Saturday, November 5, 2011.

Chili Cookers arrived early to set-up their booths on the famed wrap-around porch.   A cloud mist giving a mystic feel to the morning’s activities added to the intrigue of the event. The outdoor fireplace was lit reflecting a red and orange glow as contestants warmed themselves with a cup of coffee before beginning the competition.  An easy comrade developed between chili cookers as they squared-off for the competition.

Chili lovers and music aficionados strolled the porch sampling and voting for their favorite chili while listening to “Neighborhood Watch” a young and upcoming blues band.  The Autumn day temperature reached a high of 64 degrees to the delight of attendees.  By mid-afternoon, Chili judges arrived to sample and determine the best Appalachian Mountain Chili in the non-professional and professional categories through a double blind taste-testing.

The winners were as follows:  The backyard, non-professional team winner was Rapid Robert’s Gourmet Chili, Blairsville. The professional team winner and People’s Choice Award was presented to the Team Chef for Greenside Grill, Chatuge Shores Golf Course, Hayesville, North Carolina.  This award included cash and the Copper Spoon Award.  The overall winner, “The Best Chili in the Appalachians,” was Rangers Chili Team, Dahlonega, Ga.  The Team Chef, Alec Carlson was presented a gift certificate for a weekend stay – The Lodge at Copperhead.
